Five Foley Attorneys Named to Utah Business’ 2024 Legal Elite
Foley & Lardner LLP partners Monica Call, Jared Braithwaite, Melanie Clark, David Mortensen, and Ellen Ostrow are named to Utah Business’ 2024 Legal Elite.
The Legal Elite honors the 100 leading lawyers in Utah who have made significant contributions in their respective legal fields. Attorneys are recognized for their exceptional legal knowledge, ethical standards, and professional accomplishments.
Call is the managing partner of Foley’s Salt Lake City office and a skilled litigator representing companies and individual clients across a wide array of complex litigation, including commercial contract, business tort, antitrust and unfair competition, intellectual property, securities, professional liability, and corporate governance matters. She also dedicates time to serving in her community and volunteers with various non-profit organizations that focus on women and children.
Braithwaite, an intellectual property litigation, privacy, and data security attorney, represents clients facing technology-related litigation by employing optimum and efficient strategies that protect their assets while mitigating risk. He has appeared before the International Trade Commission and in state and federal courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Clark is a transactional real estate attorney who advises clients on all aspects of large-scale real estate projects, including acquisition and disposition of land, leasing, financing, and project development. She assists large and small real estate developers in acquiring and developing new projects, managing and leasing existing projects, and reconfiguring obsolete projects.
Mortensen, a trial lawyer and member of Foley’s management committee, focuses his practice on complex business litigation, including intellectual property litigation. He is regularly retained by some of the largest cities in Utah to represent them in cases involving civil rights, government contracting, and emergency medical licensing, among other matters.
Ostrow is a litigator and strategic advisor to restructuring and bankruptcy clients. She has extensive experience representing multiple unsecured creditors’ committees in the bankruptcies of manufacturers, event operators, restaurants, and health food suppliers, Chapter 11 debtors in bankruptcies in the entertainment, mining, and housing industries, and Chapter 15 foreign representatives. Ostrow additionally advises purchasers of distressed assets and various creditors, including secured lenders and major power purchase agreement creditors.
