Foley’s Entry into Raleigh Market, New National Corporate Health Care Team Receives Widespread Media Coverage
Foley & Lardner LLP’s simultaneous entry into another strategic market with the opening of the firm’s Raleigh, North Carolina, office and expansion of its national corporate and health care offerings with the addition of a talented team including partners Leah D’Aurora Richardson, Joshua Skora, and Andrea Cunha is featured across business and legal press.
In The American Lawyer article, “Foley & Lardner Opens North Carolina Office After Scooping Up Life Sciences Team From K&L Gates,” Foley Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal said that while the firm has eyed the North Carolina market for a while, this is the right team at the right time to make an entrance. He highlighted the firm’s rapid growth in its Salt Lake City office, opened in 2021, which has since had to move to a larger office to accommodate its expanding team of attorneys.
“We fully anticipate growing in Raleigh in the same fashion that we did in Salt Lake City, which is attracting great people,” Doogal explained. “There’s a lot of talented lawyers in that market, where we want to grow it and grow smartly with the right people. But when we enter a market, we want to immerse ourselves in the market, we want to service clients in that market, we want to hire locally for that, we want to immerse ourselves in the community. That takes an office of critical mass.”
In the Law360 article, “Foley & Lardner Adds 6-Atty Corporate Team From K&L Gates,” Richardson emphasized the complementary nature of Foley’s health care work with the team’s practice. “This was a great opportunity to help Foley establish a presence in Raleigh, as well as work with and add to the firm’s strong offerings in its health care and life sciences sector,” she said, adding that Foley’s collaborative culture was a major draw.
“Foley has a wide variety of health care attorneys across the country who work in different areas of the sector and can handle any type of matter,” Skora said. “It was important to us to be able to work at a firm where we can expand our practice and with a team like this who can help strengthen our services to clients across the world. We couldn’t be happier to be here.”
Cunha also pointed to Foley’s sector-driven focus as dovetailing with the team’s national health care practice. “Foley completely aligned with what we were looking for because of its health care sector approach, which offers natural synergies with our national practice,” she added. “We are excited to start servicing our clients alongside our new colleagues and with this robust platform.”
