Patrick Daugherty Assesses Walz Pick, Crypto Regulatory Outlook
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Patrick Daugherty shared insight on the upcoming U.S. presidential election and its potential influence on the regulatory approach to cryptocurrency in the Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence article, “VP Harris’ choice of Walz for running mate brings more uncertainty over crucial policy issues, including crypto.”
Daugherty noted that business and financial executives and technologists tend to “prefer less rather than more regulation,” and said that he hoped Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz would adopt a more moderate approach to the crypto industry in the interest of the tens of million Americans who own digital assets, even if they disagree with pending legislation such as the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act.
