Foley & Lardner LLP joined Utah Business to host a roundtable discussion featuring the state’s business leaders in fashion.
Moderated by Fernanda Böhme, co-founder of böhme, and featuring C-Suite executives, owners, designers, and Foley attorneys, the conversation delved into challenges facing fashion organizations and how they can be leveraged for growth, talent sourcing and retention, marketing strategy, and more.
In the Utah Business article, “Fashion industry leaders discuss authenticity, growth and the future of retail,” summarizing the roundtable, Foley partner Laura Ganoza, co-chair of the firm’s Fashion, Apparel & Beauty team, shared perspective on how to determine when it might be the right time for a fashion business to raise outside capital.
“You have to make yourself ready for when the capital is going to come in,” Ganoza explained. “You don’t become ready when you say, “OK, let’s go to market tomorrow to try to find investors.” You do it from the very, very beginning…Have your cap table. Have your IP locked down.”
“If you’re looking into when the right time to partner with someone is, it has to complement what you’re doing,” she added.
