Foley Adds Public Affairs Director Jamie Kuhn in Wisconsin, Strengthening Its Bi-Partisan Government Solutions Capabilities
Foley & Lardner LLP announced that Jamie Kuhn has joined the firm’s Wisconsin-based Government Solutions Practice Group as a public affairs director. Kuhn brings over 20 years of public service experience in both the executive and legislative branches of state and local government.
Most recently, Kuhn served as the county executive for Dane County, the second most populated county in the state of Wisconsin, overseeing more than 2,800 employees and managing an annual budget of over $1 billion. Prior to this role, she was the Medicaid director at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, where she led a team of over 1,200 employees and managed a budget of $14 billion. During her tenure, Kuhn provided leadership on improving service delivery for Medicaid recipients, maternal and youth health, social determinants of health, and mental and behavioral health.
Before her tenure at the Department of Health Services, Kuhn was the director of external relations for Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, where she led the work of engaging stakeholders on policy issues in health care, education, conservation, the Great Lakes, and economic development. She also served as chief of staff for State Senator Mark Miller, assisting him in his roles as majority leader, minority leader, and chairman of the Joint Committee on Finance. Additionally, Kuhn was the director of intergovernmental affairs for Milwaukee County and has provided public affairs support to numerous non-profit organizations.
“Jamie’s extensive experience in both state and local government, combined with her knowledge of key public policy initiatives, will provide valuable perspectives as we assist clients in managing the evolving matters they face,” said Edward Burbach, chair of Foley’s Government Solutions Practice Group. “She’s a great addition to our bi-partisan Wisconsin team and our broader national practice.”
“Providing a bi-partisan perspective is important in Wisconsin, and Jamie’s proven leadership in government affairs and extensive relationships at the state and local level will make her an invaluable resource for clients in Wisconsin and nationwide as they address complex political and legislative issues,” said Paul Wrycha, managing partner of Foley’s Madison office. “We are excited to welcome her to the firm.”
“Joining Foley allows me to leverage my unique experiences to help organizations, local governments, and businesses work strategically to deliver services, programs, or products to Wisconsinites,” said Kuhn. “I’m excited to be part of the firm’s experienced team, providing collaborative, intentional guidance to help clients achieve their objectives and overcome challenges.”
