Gregory Husisian Comments on Tariff Variance, Impact on Nearshoring
April 8, 2025
The Wall Street Journal
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Gregory Husisian assessed U.S. tariff implementation on Mexico and Asia in The Wall Street Journal article, “How Mexico Emerged From Tariff Broadside With an Edge Over Asia.”
Husisian explained that for now, the Trump administration’s tariff regime leaves in place Mexico’s status a prime destination for companies aiming to nearshore production and supplies.
More widespread trade barriers imposed by the United States could drive even more nearshoring to Mexico than under Trump’s first term, he added, when trade conflict with China caused a more limited relocation of manufacturing.
