James Lucien Johnson is a litigator that represents clients across the country in a variety of commercial litigation and construction disputes. He works closely with public entities and private businesses, general contractors, developers, and design professionals to resolve their most high-stakes and complex matters by delivering tailored, business-oriented solutions.

James has experience handling a broad range of business litigation matters, including corporate governance, business separation, business tort cases, and post-transaction disputes. He also regularly represents clients in the construction industry in construction defect and delay matters. He also provides clients with general corporate counsel to help avoid litigation and minimize disruptions to business operations. He is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Construction Practices.

  • Trial case issues included fraudulent nondisclosure, negligence, and vicarious liability in high stakes trucking accident, and enforcement of homeowners’ association governing documents
  • Managed review of 500,000 documents produced in discovery in complex construction arbitration matter involving a billion-dollar federal construction project; successfully negotiated settlement at 25% of damages originally claimed by plaintiff
  • Successfully negotiated mediated settlement of just 7% of initial demand in car crash fatality matter
  • Secured summary judgment in favor of property insurance client in case where claimed damages were in excess of $100,000
  • Recovered six-figure attorneys’ fees award as prevailing party in trial to enforce homeowners’ association governing documents
