Michael G. Laskis is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner where he was a member of the firm’s Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling Practice. He is the former managing partner of Foley’s Madison office. He carried on an active law practice, representing medical clinics, HMOs, advanced technology companies, contractors, and engineering firms.
In the health law area, Michael has worked with several different clinics and HMOs – helping them organize integrated health care delivery systems, dealing with ever-increasing federal and state regulatory requirements, and converting them from nonprofit to for-profit status. More generally, he has assisted with general corporate matters involving real estate acquisition and transfer, finance, subrogation claims, and the resolution of medical coverage disputes.
Michael has assisted high technology companies in designing and implementing joint ventures, structuring startups, negotiating and implementing software development agreements, and distribution arrangements, providing day-to-day business law advice, and litigating commercial disputes.
Michael also represented clients involved in all phases of the construction industry, having litigated and arbitrated disputes involving changed conditions, project delays, bid disputes, claims for extras and the like. He is familiar with AIA and other standard construction forms and has assisted many clients in drafting, negotiating and implementing design and construction agreements.
