James McGrath assists with businesses launching private equity funds, venture capital funds, hedge funds and registered investment funds. His role also involves advising clients on regulatory compliance matters, including series funding, seed financing, and other private equity transactions. With his experience, James will provide invaluable support as an associate in the Fund Formation & Investment Management Practice Group.
After completing his legal education, James embarked on his professional journey at Sidley Austin’s Boston office, where he served as a junior associate in the Investment Funds and Private Equity/M&A Groups. In February 2024, James transitioned to an in-house role at ButcherBox, where he engaged in a diverse array of legal matters, including general corporate work, corporate acquisitions, fund investments, and regulatory compliance.
During his time at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, James distinguished himself as an Antitrust Law Research Assistant. As an undergraduate at Boston College, James was a member of the Investment Club. When he returned to attend law school at Boston College, he joined the Business and Law Society, Sports and Entertainment Law Society, the Real Estate Law Society, and was a member of First Generation Professionals.
